X-ray Sources Identification

source identification

We are doing an intense long-term research work leading the identification of the 318 X-ray sources in the XMM-Newton Medium Sample (XMS, Barcons et al 2007). Almost 90% of the sample is currently identified. The remaining sources will be observed with the Gran Telescopio de Canarias (GTC) during 2009,and weexpect for thema largerfraction of obscured sources, responsible of the greatest partof theenergy emitted through accretionin the Universe. These sources usually present ahigh X-rays (minimum absorption) to optical (sensitive to dust presence) emission rate.
