X-ray Sources Identification (XMS sample)

source identification

We are doing an intense long-term research work leading the identification of the 318 X-ray sources in the XMM-Newton Medium Sample (XMS, Barcons et al 2007). Almost 90% of the sample is currently identified. The remaining sources will be observed with the Gran Telescopio de Canarias (GTC) during 2009, and we expect for them a larger fraction of obscured sources, responsible of the greatest part of the energy emitted through accretion in the Universe. These sources usually present a high X-rays (minimum absorption) to optical (sensitive to dust presence) emission rate.
