NOT ALFOSC run, 10-13 March 2001 Observers: Patrick Guillout, Observatoire Astronomique, Strasbourg, France Natalie Webb, Centre d'Etude Spatiale des Rayonnements, Toulouse, France Technical report: No major problem to report. Target location was done efficiently. Instrument setup: Low resolution: Grism number 4 (3.3 A/pix, lambda 3500-7000) High resolution: Grism number 7 (1.7 A/pix, 3800-6800) Slit width was from 0.7 to 2.5" depending on seeing conditions. Observations : ============ 10-11 Humidity < 20% during most of the night. Sky clear, seeing < 1 arcsec. The moon was very bright (full moon on March 09), so we concentrated on the optically brightest (16-17 mag) objects. Before each scientific exposure we took a halogen flat and 2 Ne+He arc lamps - one short exposure, so that none of the lines were saturated and one longer exposure, to get the weaker lines at the blue end of the spectrum. Target exposures were 30 minutes for everything fainter than 17 and scaled down for the brighter objects, as requested. We observed the standard Feige 34. Biasses and sky flats were taken at the beginning and the end of the night. 1 hour was lost due to technical problem. 11-12 Humidity < 50% during most of the night. Sky clear, seeing variable 1-2 arcsec. Proximity of the moon (FM + 2) prevented us acquiring (good) spectra as we were left with 18.5-20 magnitude objects... We also observed the standard star Feige 34 again. Biasses were taken at the beginnning and end of the night. Sky flats were only possible at the beginning of the night. Dome closed ~ 06H00 UT due to humidity conditions. 12-13 100% humidity all night (rain). No observations made at all. 13-14 Sky clear but wind > 20 m/s (up to 31 m/s) preventing observations most of the night. Dome opened at 01H30 UT but only a few targets were observed due to downwind observing constraints (wind close to 20 m/s limit). The seeing was variable, 1-2 arcsec. Dome closed again before the end of the night (wind > 20 m/s). Biasses taken during and at the end of the night. End of report F278 002 Observed 010311. OK HD117555 004 Observed 010313.
